Ever wondered why the Snes control pad had those L and R shoulder buttons? Well in a recent podcast Kotaku’s Japan Night Editor Brian Ashcraft (aka Bashcraft to Kotaku readers such as myself ) mentioned being told at a press event the Snes pad release was delayed and the shoulder buttons were added so that the controller could have enough buttons for the biggest game out at the time which was Street Fighter II.
